The city extends trial programme on ensuring safety of visitors on Son Tra Peninsula until late 2020

The trial programme on ensuring safety of visitors on Son Tra Peninsula, which was due to run from 15 November 2019 until 15 February 2020, will be extended until late 2020.  

The announcement was released by Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh at his Thursday meeting with some representatives from local relevant departments and agencies to review 3 months of the implementation of the trial programme.

In his remarks at the meeting, Vice Chairman Chinh highly lauded the great efforts of relevant agencies in ensuring the efficiency of the trial programme.

He, however, added that after 3 months of the implementation, the trial has yet to meet the city’s expectations because it was carried out in the city’s tourism low season.

Under the trial programme, all vehicles, excluding scooters which are now prohibited from travelling in this Peninsula, are allowed to travel on a road leading to the more-than-a-century-old banyan tree which intersects Hoang Sa Street, and a road leading to the Ban Co (Chessboard) Peak and the Bai Bac tourist site which intersects Yet Kieu Street, and a road leading to the Om (Hug) Stream which intersects Yet Kieu Street.

Besides, some security guard stations have been set up along the above-mentioned roads in order to remind vehicle drivers to pay extra careful attention to riding their vehicles to the peninsula, especially when going up and down slopes.

Also, professional transportation vehicles have been used to transport visitors to the Son Tra Peninsula instead of their private ones in order to ensure their safety.
