Attending in the conference were Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai; Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province Mai Thanh Thang; representatives of relevant Departments of Binh Dinh Province and media agencies.
In the press conference, Deputy Minister Huynh Vinh Ai emphasized the importance and significance of the 5th International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts – Binh Dinh 2014. Binh Dinh is the land of classical drama, folk songs, traditional martial arts and friendly people. In 2012, Binh Dinh traditional martial arts were recognized as the national intangible heritage. Through the festival, the spirit of national pride will be promoted and disseminated within and outside the country.
According to Mr. Mai Thanh Thang, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee Binh Dinh Province, with the theme “Preserving and Upholding Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts”, the festival aims to honor the traditional cultural values of the country, introduce the beauty of land and the people of Binh Dinh to international friends. The festival is an opportunity for the national and international martial arts groups to meet, exchange and share experience on preserving and promoting Vietnamese traditional martial arts.
The 5th International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts will be organized from 1st to 4th August 2014 in Quy Nhon City, Tay Son and Tuy Phuoc districts and An Nhon Town with main activities such as: Incense Burning and Flower Offering at Quang Trung Museum and Sacred Place of Worship; The Championship of the 5th International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts 2014; The Contest of Miss Traditional Martial Arts; Street festival. The opening ceremony (at 20:00 of 1st August) and the closing ceremony (at 20:00 of 4th August) will be organized at the Square in Truong Chinh and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets, Quy Nhon City.
In addition, from 25th July, there will be many responsive activities such as: Exchange among martial arts schools; Martial arts performances; Visit to beauty spots, historical and cultural vestiges; Performances of ancient folk songs; Young talent contest for national and professional classical drama actors 2014; Performance of Japanese martial arts delegations; Food festival; Photo contest…
According to Organizing Board, up to now, there have been over 55 international groups and 30 Vietnamese martial groups registering to participate in the festival.
